Trek Itinerary

DAY 0

Arrival in Moshi

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a Frontline Safari Tanzania representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Later in the evening, meet your mountain guide for a comprehensive briefing covering the route, safety procedures, altitude awareness, and equipment check. This session ensures you are fully prepared and confident before beginning your Kilimanjaro climb the following morning.

DAY 1

Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

After breakfast, transfer to Marangu Gate for registration and official park formalities. The trek begins through dense rainforest filled with towering trees, blue monkeys, and colorful birdlife. The well-maintained trail climbs steadily to Mandara Hut at 2,700 meters. Upon arrival, relax, enjoy dinner prepared by your mountain crew, and settle into the hut as you prepare for the next stage of your ascent.

DAY 2

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Leaving the rainforest behind, the trail transitions into open moorland dotted with giant heathers and lobelias. The landscape becomes more expansive with spectacular views of Mawenzi Peak and Kibo ahead. The gradual ascent helps your body adjust to altitude as you hike toward Horombo Hut at 3,720 meters. After arrival, enjoy a warm meal and rest while your guides monitor your acclimatization progress.

DAY 3

Horombo Hut Acclimatization / Hike to Zebra Rocks

Spend the day acclimatizing at Horombo Hut by hiking to nearby Zebra Rocks, which provides panoramic views of the surrounding alpine desert. Return to Horombo Hut for a nutritious dinner and rest. This extra day improves your body’s adaptation to altitude, preparing you physically and mentally for the summit night ahead.

Day 4

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Today’s trek crosses the alpine desert zone, a vast and dramatic landscape between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. The terrain is drier and temperatures begin to drop as you approach Kibo Hut at 4,700 meters. After lunch, rest and hydrate in preparation for the midnight summit attempt. An early dinner is served before you sleep briefly, conserving energy for the most challenging part of the climb.

Day 5

Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

After breakfast, begin the final descent through moorland and lush rainforest trails. The air grows warmer as you approach Marangu Gate, where you will sign out and receive your official summit certificate. Your driver will transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved shower and celebration, marking the successful completion of your Mount Kilimanjaro adventure.
