DAY 0

Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where a Frontline Safari Tanzania representative welcomes you and transfers you to your hotel in Moshi. Later in the evening, meet your mountain guide for a full climb briefing, equipment inspection, and safety discussion. DAY 1

Rongai Gate to Simba Camp

Drive to the northern side of Kilimanjaro near the Kenyan border and register at Rongai Gate. Begin trekking through farmland and pine forest where wildlife such as monkeys and antelope are sometimes seen. The trail climbs gradually for about 3–4 hours to reach Simba Camp at approximately 2,600 meters, where you enjoy dinner and overnight rest.
Second Cave Camp

DAY 2

Simba Camp to Second Cave Camp

Continue ascending across open moorland with beautiful views of the Kenyan plains. The trail is gentle and steady, making this day ideal for acclimatization. After about 3–4 hours of trekking, arrive at Second Cave Camp at 3,450 meters. The afternoon offers time to rest, hydrate, and enjoy the peaceful mountain surroundings.
Kikelewa Camp

DAY 3

Second Cave Camp to Kikelewa Camp

Trek across quiet alpine terrain toward Kikelewa Camp at around 3,600 meters. The scenery changes to dramatic volcanic landscapes with fewer plants and wide panoramic views. The hike takes approximately 4–5 hours and remains moderate, allowing climbers to gradually adjust to the altitude while conserving energy for higher elevations ahead.
Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Day 4

Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Climb steadily toward Mawenzi Tarn Camp at 4,330 meters, located beneath the rugged peaks of Mawenzi. This shorter trekking day supports proper acclimatization and provides stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s dramatic eastern side. Spend the afternoon resting or taking a short acclimatization walk around the camp while preparing for the higher altitude stages.
Mawenzi Tarn Camp

Day 5

Acclimatization Day at Mawenzi Tarn

Spend the day acclimatizing at Mawenzi Tarn Camp. A short hike to higher elevation may be taken before returning to camp for rest, following the “climb high, sleep low” principle. This important day improves your body’s adjustment to altitude and significantly increases your chances of reaching the summit successfully.
Kibo Hut

Day 6

Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut

Cross the vast lunar landscape of the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. This quiet alpine desert trek takes about 5–6 hours and leads to Kibo Hut at 4,700 meters. After an early dinner and summit briefing, prepare your gear and rest before beginning the midnight summit attempt to Uhuru Peak.
